Based in Alameda, California, St. George has been distilling since 1982 and since then created a fantastic portfolio of craft spirits. Bruto is a bitter aperitivo liqueur made from a variety of herbs, roots, and other botanicals. The bitterness comes primarily from gentian root; the citrus notes mostly from California-grown Seville orange; and the woodsy notes from balsam fir and Cascara sagrada (bark from the California buckthorn). Expect vibrant citrus, with notes of cinnamon, sandalwood, and forest on the nose. Sweeter than Campari, clove and cinnamon add spicy components that finishes dry, herbaceous and citrusy. Drink with soda water, or in a Negroni, Boulevardier, or Americano!
