  • Brothers Sukhinder and  Rajbir Singh founded The Single Malts of Scotland in 2002 after Sukhnder bottled his first barrel of whisky. Since then, they have expanded their empire to include Port Askaig (a former club bottle), The Elements of Islay and also Black Tot rum. They also started a small online company that's big in Europe called The Whisky Exchange in 1999.

As for Linkwood, this whisky has become a favorite of mine, no matter who’s the bottler. Aside from this bottling, another notable bottle is the Linkwood 21 from a different Independent bottler which we do carry in the store. But back to this particularly delicious example of Linkwood. The distillery has been around for almost 200 years when it was founded by Peter Brown. It is now part of Diego’s huge portfolio where most of Linkwood’s  juice goes into a brand I’ll call “Whisky Walker”.  It’s the world’s best selling Scotch brand.

Linkwood is a  2007 vintage single malt.  It was an intense nose of white chocolate shavings, raspberries and poached pears. The citrus palate slowly develops notes of digestive biscuits, sunflower oil and ripe bananas with ginger. A great example of this distillery style, it seamlessly combines lively fruits with a sweetness that rises out the glass.
