• With roots dating back to 1817, situated on the banks of Lagavulin Bay on the island of Islay, Lagavulin Distillery is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. This heavily peated Lagavulin single malt from Islay is double matured, meaning that it is also finished in casks that previously held sweet, dark, rich, Pedro Ximénez Sherry. It has an intensely peaty smoke and wood spice aroma. On the palate you’ll find notes of peat, rich smoke and a salty tang, which are balanced by hints of vanilla and honeyed oak. The finish is incredible, with complex notes of caramel and fruits belying bolder notes of peat and smoke. Massive, rich, yet balanced, this is definitely a limited edition to add to the collection.
