• Calvados producer Christian Drouin has decided to shake up his family’s legacy by releasing a gin inspired by French tradition. Created with a base spirit from 30 varieties of cider apples typically used in Calvados production, and borrowing the culinary flavors frequently used in the region, the botanical recipe for Le Gin features lemon, ginger, rose, cardamom, cinnamon, vanilla and almond. The botanicals are steeped separately in neutral grain spirits before being blended in with the base to achieve the final products. Unfortunately because of the labeling laws from the TTB and the EU, the label states that this gin is a base of neutral grain spirit, and omits the mention of the apple distillate.
