During the 1800s there were many small stills to be found across the island of Arran, many were not legal, but today The Arran is the only distillery that remains. When a three-year old cask was opened in July 1998 it was the first legal dram of Arran whiskey enjoyed in over 160 years. The distillery is located in Lochranza, at the north end of the island. This delicious whisky is finished in Sauternes casks, a sweet dessert style wine from Bordeaux. On the nose, you get clover honey, light florals, lemon zest. On the palate, orange marmalade, cloves, baking spices and a slight saltiness make this whiskey a delightful and balanced scotch.
