Description
  • Glenlossie is a Speyside distiller that was founded in 1876. Nowadays, it’s better known (or not known) for being added to blends for its parent company Diageo. It has a self described house style of “soft, smooth and sweet with notes of hay and malt.” Sounds great, right?

This single barrel of Glenlossie from the Independent bottler Adelphi is 1 of 467 from cask number 5304. It was distilled in 2013 then aged for 10 years in refilled sherry barrels. Like all whiskies from Adelphi, they bottle straight from the cask without coloring or chill-filtration. This allows the true and unadulterated flavors of the whisky to remain locked in up until it is released into the glass.

In your bottle, look for notes of  roasted peach, ripe apricot, green apple turnover, pear eau-de-vie, cream pudding, green banana and cereal on the nose. On the palate cinnamon buttered bread, black pepper, white raisin, clove and macadamia nut. I find it finishes with black pepper, clove, sea salt, and vanilla bean.
