Tequila Fortaleza was the first distillery to export their tequila to the United States and also had a major role in establishing the Denomination of Origin for Tequila. While the Fortaleza brand only launched in 2005, they family has 140 years of experience in the industry. Every production aspect of this lowlands tequila is completed by the highest standards: the agave is crushed by traditional tahona (stone wheel), fermented in small wooden vats, and distilled in tiny copper-pot stills for maximum quality control. The result is a complex spirit with aromas of butter, olive, earth and black pepper and flavors of cooked agave, vanilla, basil, olive and lime.
